Education - A Student of the Business

Scott Sanford has earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM  certification.  Certified Financial  Planner Board of Standards Inc. awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP® Board’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.that include the following:

  • Education - CFP® practitioners develop theoretical and practical financial planning knowledge by completing a comprehensive course of study.
  • Examination - CFP® practitioners must pass a comprehensive two-day, 10-hour CFP® Certification Examination that tests their ability to apply their financial planning knowledge in the general principles of financial planning, insurance and risk management, employee benefits, investments, income tax, retirement and estate planning.
  • Experience - CFP® practitioners must have a minimum of three years' experience working in the financial planning process prior to earning the CFP® mark.
  • Ethics - CFP® practitioners must pass an ethics review and agree to abide by a strict code of conduct that states that CFP® practitioners are to act with integrity, offering professional services that are objective and based on client needs.

Scott Sanford has earned the ACCREDITED ESTATE PLANNER® designation, as well as the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) professional designations from the American College in Bryn Mawr Pennsylvania.

  • The ACCREDITED ESTATE PLANNER (AEP®) designation is a graduate level accreditation in estate planning obtained in addition to already recognized professional credentials within the disciplines of estate planning recognized by the NAEPC: accounting (CPA); insurance and financial planning (CLU®, ChFC®, CFP®); law (JD); and trust services (CTFA). The AEP® designation is awarded by the NAEPC to estate planning professionals who meet special requirements of education, experience, knowledge, professional reputation, and character. The professionals who hold this designation offer you expertise, experience, multi-disciplinary planning, and adherence to a strict Code of Ethics—providing you with the peace of mind that only expert estate planning advice can bring. The NAEPC has high standards for eligibility for this designation as well as for maintaining the designation in good standing.
  • The Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) designation has long been recognized as the fundamental and foremost educational credential for life insurance professionals. Since 1927, more than 94,000 individuals have earned their CLU, helping them build a successful life insurance practice by providing clients with knowledgeable and ethical advice. For financial representatives, field management, home office personnel, and others involved in providing life insurance products to the public, the CLU designation symbolizes continuing growth and commitment to professionalism.
  • The Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) designation focuses on the comprehensive financial planning process as an organized way to collect and analyze information on a client's total financial situation; to identify and establish specific financial goals; and to formulate, implement, and monitor a comprehensive plan to achieve those goals. The ChFC program provides financial services professionals with in-depth knowledge of the skills needed to perform comprehensive financial planning for their clients.
